Our Services
There is a vast community of river enthusiasts around the world, but it might be tricky to get your foot in the door. The usual method includes: having a patient friend who shows you the ropes and brings you along, or attending a 1-2 week guide or kayaking school. Trinity Whitewater Academy’s goal is to grow the river community by facilitating an “at your own pace” instructional courses. Whether you’d like to learn how to guide your own friends and family down a river, or learn how to roll a kayak, we have the course for you!
Intro to Raft Guiding

Level 1 Rafting Course:
Learn the basic roles of a River Guide including: Duties, Basic River Safety, Enviromental Impacts, and the Equipment needed for successful raft trips. We will spend up to 8 hours covering Level 1 Course materials, including hands on time on the Pigeon Point section of the Trinity River (Class 3+). This is more than a guided trip, designed to start participants on their own whitewater journey!
Intro to Whitewater Kayaking

Level 1 Kayaking Course:
Successful completion of the Level 1 Rafting Course or previous experience whitewater rafting, takes us to the next step… choosing your boating medium (what kind of boat do you want to navigate?). Some folks aren’t interested in organizing or being responsible for a group, and desire the independence of a kayak. Before squeezing into a hard shell kayak and learning the “roll,” we recommend putting yourself in an inflatable kayak course. Start off on one of many local Class 2 Sections, learn the gear, logistics and basic safety requirements for self supported river navigation.
Week Long Guide School

Learn everything you need to become a local Professional Whitewater River Guide and find potential job placement with local outfitters for the Summer Season. Days are long with up to 12 hours of whitewater education and hands on experience, group cooked meals and camping sites will be provided.
